Medical Assistants who Specialize
Medical assistants who specialize are medical assistants who found their special niche at the work
place, often because of their past experiences and specific interests. They pursue their passion and flourish
in their chosen area.
Often, specialty focus medical offices and clinics seek certified medical assistants
with concentration in allergy, asthma and immunology, to name just a few. There are many medical assistant
specialty areas and obtaining specialty medical assistant certifications are becoming a new trend.
These special focus positions often require a higher level of training and technical
skills. Such areas of specialization can be allergy and immunology, gastroenterology, urology,
hemodialysis, or nephrology.
Medical assistants in orthopedics, dental office, chiropractic, or physical
therapy locations often are dirtecly involved in operating x-ray devices, and developing radiological
images, which in many cases requires a limited x-ray
license, depending on governing state laws.
Often these positions with additional duties and responsibilities also come with higher wages
and better compensation.
